Tervuren is a dog-workaholic, for a long time they have been used only as shepherds. The breed gets its name from the Belgian district Tervuren, where it was bred as an assistant for grazing cattle. World popularity of the breed has gained after the First World War, when it was imported into the United States. These shepherds differ with their activity, energy and balanced character.

If they are left alone, they feel nostalgic, experiencing acute stress. These dogs are attentive and sensitive, they can easily respond to any pulses. Tervuren is a dog-individualist "with character", but at the same time, faithful and kind. It can show aggression only to strangers. The dogs' lifespan is about 11-14 years.
